Midwest Dynamical Systems Seminar

October 10 - 12, 2003

Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis

Organizers: Will Geller ( wgeller@math.iupui.edu) and Michal Misiurewicz (mmisiure@math.iupui.edu)

The conference is supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation.

We will follow the traditional format, that is, the talks will start at 3:00 pm on Friday, October 10, and end about noon on Sunday, October 12.

NEW     Schedule of talks

Lodging: We have reserved a block of rooms in the Residence Inn by Marriott (Downtown on the Canal), 350 West New York Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202, phone: 800-331-3131 or 317-822-0840. This hotel is located less than 2 blocks from the campus (it is marked on this map).

NEW:      As of today (October 3), the Residence Inn is apparently sold out. However, rooms are still available at the University Place Hotel on campus and the Renaissance Tower Historic Inn across downtown. The best rates can be found here, under "Near Downtown Properties" after clicking on "Book a Room" (near the bottom of the page).

Special events: We have arranged for discounted tickets to the Friday evening performance of Tom Stoppard's "Arcadia" at the nearby Indiana Repertory Theatre. Dynamics plays a central role in the play, which Allyn Jackson called "an uproarious comedy" in the Notices of the AMS and Robert Brustein called "probably Stoppard's most accomplished play" in The New Republic. Tickets are $22 (rather than the regular $44) and $9 for students. If you would like us to reserve a ticket for you which can be paid for after your arrival, please email Will Geller.

There will also be a conference party chez Geller on Saturday evening.

Registration: You do not need to register to participate in the conference. However, if you want to receive financial support, we recommend you request it by September 19.

Location: The IUPUI campus is located very close to downtown Indianapolis. You can see it on the map above, and the links to more detailed campus maps are here.

Airports: Indianapolis is served by Indianapolis International Airport (3-letter code IND). Take a shuttle, limousine or taxi to the hotel (the distance is about 5 miles).
