Synopsis: During this seminar, we will begin to discuss how to structure lecture to develop student note-taking skills as a vehicle for developing mathematical maturity across a course. Mathematical maturity will be viewed as how well a student can reason what she does and does not know, how to establish a framework for problem-solving and how to tap resources (such as peers, textbook, instructor, lecture notes, etc.) to fill-in (accurately) self-diagnosed issues in a course.
