Admission requirements

Degrees are conferred through the Indiana University system. Admission to the program is competitive. We plan to admit 3 full-time students to the Ph.D. program in a cohort model every fall (note: Students admitted for fall enrollment only). 

Applicants must have:
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (preferably in Psychology, but we will consider applicants with bachelor's degrees in similar areas with coursework in social science statistics and research methods).
  • A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.2 on a 4-point scale.
  • Valid (i.e., no older than 5 years) GRE General Test scores, with subtest percentile ranks in the top 50%.
International Students
  • English Proficiency Requirements: Nonnative speakers of English must present campus-approved evidence of English language proficiency

  • ASOP students in good standing should typically expect to receive competitive stipend support for four years.
  • Sources of stipend support typically involve work positions for 20 hours/week, 10 months of the year, such as:
    • teaching or research assistantships
    • fellowships (e.g., Kabat Fellowships, University Fellowships)
    • applied placements in related academic units (e.g., IUPUI Human Resources)
