Teaching/Research Assistantships

Students who intend to work full-time toward the M.S or Ph.D. and who supply application materials by March 1 will be considered for graduate assistantships. Graduate assistantships include health insurance (medical and dental) and tuition coverage for all remittable fees.

Students who receive an assistantship will be assigned by the department up to 20 hours per week of responsibilities during the fall and spring semesters as well as up to 10 hours per week during one of the summer sessions. These responsibilities often include assignments such as teaching, tutoring, grading, proctoring, and research.

Teaching assistant training and mentoring is provided.


  • M.S. assistantship stipends range from $9,000 to $11,000 for ten months
  • Ph.D. assistantship stipends ranging from $16,000 to $20,000 or more for ten, eleven, or twelve months
