Financial Support for Graduate Students

Fellowships

Students who intend to work full-time toward the Ph.D. and who supply application materials by February 1 will be considered for fellowships. Some of these fellowships include the IUPUI University Fellowship and the Purdue School of Science Fellowship. These fellowships generally provide a stipend of $16,000- $22,000 or more for twelve months plus health insurance (medical and dental) and tuition coverage with all fees remitted except for approximately $800 per semester. These fellowships have tenures ranging from 1 to 2 years, after which the student will be supported with a departmental teaching assistantship or research assistantship up to a total of seven years provided satisfactory academic progress towards the Ph.D. is made.

Teaching/Research Assistantships

Students who intend to work full-time toward the Ph.D. and who supply application materials by March 1 will be considered for graduate assistantships. Graduate teaching assistantships include stipends ranging from $16,000 to $20,000 or more for ten or twelve months plus health insurance (medical and dental) and tuition coverage with all fees remitted except for approximately $800 per semester. Teaching assistant training and mentoring is provided.
