GK-12 Urban Educators Program

IUPUI Gk-12 Urban Educator ProgramGK-12 fellows are graduate students who are working on either an M.S. or a Ph.D. degree. Fellows are matched with teacher partners from local Indianapolis middle schools and high schools, and work in the classroom for 10 hours per week. The GK-12 fellows apply their university graduate research projects to classrooms and outdoor learning labs, offering teachers and students access to current and relevant science concepts.

By engaging middle and high school students in a research framework, the GK-12 fellows provide a unique opportunity for students to ask questions, collect data, and think scientifically about real-world issues in health sciences and the environment.

Each GK-12 Teacher Partner will earn a $4,500 stipend for working with a GK-12 fellow, with opportunities for professional development and collaboration with university faculty, opportunities to attend local or national conferences, and increased exposure for students to scientific research. Each teacher and fellow will also have a $500 supply budget to purchase materials for your classroom.

We invite you to learn more about the current GK-12 fellows and their work in the classroom by visiting our webpage and Facebook page.
